Relationship Between Awards & Segments
While users can be placed into or removed from a segment as a result of executing a rule, segments typically aren't visible to users the way an award or badge would be.
When any segment is created, an associated badge is also created. By default this segment and the associated badge are not visible to a user. You can make a segment visible to a user when creating or editing a segment. The user will see the associated badge when they are part of that segment. Check out Segments for more information.
Expiration Periods
Badges & Statuses can also have optional expiration periods, either rolling, bulk or both.
Rolling expiration means any award issued expires a defined number of days after issuance. For example, if a user has a star badge with a 30-day rolling expiration window, the badge will expire 30 days after it was received.
Bulk expiration means an award will expire after a defined number of days of non-activity on the platform. For example, if a user has a star badge with a 30 day bulk expiration period, the badge will expire if a user is inactive for 30 days, irrespective of when the user received it.
Both types of expiration period can be applied to the same award.
