# Google - OAuth (Recommended)

{% hint style="info" %}
Connecting via OAuth is the recommended approach for connecting Google Drive to Coworker.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Please note that connecting via OAuth requires you to be a 'Super Admin' of your Google Workspace.
{% endhint %}

### Step 1 of 1: OAuth Connection

We use OAuth to connect to Google.

1. Login to the Coworker Network Admin using Google Single Sign-on: <https://app.villagelabs.net/>
2. Navigate to the Network Manager (the overlapping arrows button in the top right of screen). [https://app.villagelabs.net/networks/{network-name}/management](https://app.villagelabs.net/networks/team-village/management)
3. In the side menu, go to 'Data' > 'Google Integration'
4. Make sure you have checked 'Google Drive' and 'Google Workspace' and continue with the integration on-screen. **You're done!**
5. Note that you have the option to exclude specific documents or folders from the data connection. **It is recommended that you leave these blank** unless there are specific documents or folder names you want to exclude. The reason is that Coworker will only ever process documents/folders/slides/files that are shared **with the organization,** so adding additional exclusions is usually unnecessary.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Permissions:** Connecting to Google will give Coworker read-only access only. Coworker will not be able to write-to or modify your Google Drive or Google Workspace.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Privacy Settings:** Coworker only connects to Google Drive files (Docs, Sheets, Slides) that are shared with your Organization (ie. set to General access > Anyone in this group with the link can view).

Reports will not summarize content that is not shared with the Organization, or is only shared with a subset of people within your Organization.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://village-labs.gitbook.io/coworker-product-and-developer-docs/data-connections/google-oauth-recommended.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
